Abstract
A new kind of BEM for strongly nonlinear problems is proposed and applied to solve a 2D steady-state nonlinear heat transfer problem with the temperature-dependent thermal conductivity coefficients different in x and y directions respectively. It shows that the proposed BEM is really quite general and can be used to solve even those nonlinear problems whose governing equations do not contain any linear terms at all. 1 Introduction Although the Boundary Element Method (BEM) is essentially based on the linear superposition of fundamental solutions, many researchers^ have successfully applied it to solve nonlinear boundary-value problems governed by an equation with a nonlinear differential operator A, A%) = /(F).
