Abstract
This paper presents a simple approach for solving two-dimensional cavity flow problems using a BEM formulation based on a velocity potential and Riabouchinsky's closure model. Numerical results of several tests are presented, including flow past wedges and plates at an angle of attack. 1 Introduction Cavitation phenomena play an important role in the engineering design of hydraulic structures and machines. In a simplified form, the problem may be formulated as a free boundary potential problem, the solution of which requires the determination of the cavity shape and the free surface velocity [1]. Numerical formulations have been developed based on a stream function [2-4] or a velocity potential [5,6]. Regardless of the formulation adopted,
