Abstract

The configuration of automobile manufacturing plants using FAKIR M. Fuernsinn & C. Meyer INPRO GmbH, Nurnberger Strasse 68/69, D-1000 Berlin 30, Germany ABSTRACT The expert systems currently used in industry are often unpopular with their users because they are technology-centered. A different approach is needed. The focus of attention in future developments should be shifted from methods to user problems and needs. We call these new systems "intelligent assistance systems". FAKIR is a typical example of intelligent assistance providing support for the costing of automobile assembly plants.
