Abstract

Water shortage is the serious problem in China. It is an urgent task to develop the second water resources and save water to meet the needs of living and industrial water use. In this paper the authers review the surface water resources and population distribution along Huanghe River, Luanhe River, and Liaohe River. The quantity of water resource in large cities like Beijing, Tianjin, Taiyuan, Shenyang and Xian is revealed. The estimation of water supply and water demand according to the existing water use is given. The projects for solving the problem are discussed.
