Abstract

Practicalities of developing a new master's programme in Environmental Engineering and Applied Science J.J. Sharp Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, Memorial University of Newfoundland, St John's, Newfoundland, Canada, A IB 3X5 ABSTRACT The development of a graduate programme in Environmental Engineering and Applied Science is described. Consideration is given to initial planning including consultation with various government and industrial groups. The paper describes how such consultation led to significant changes in the original proposal and to a much broader programme than originally envisaged. Government funding was made available to cover start up costs and the curriculum was developed, again in conjunction with various stakeholders.
