Abstract
The aim of this paper is the investigation of the toughening mechanisms of superionic fluoride composites based on LiF = RFg (R = rare earth element) and finding correlations between the crystallografic orientation of the phases, microstructure and residual stresses. A model for the prediction of residual strain and stress arising after fabrication of the eutectic composites is presented in this paper. The simulation of the microstructure in the composites LiF-TbFs is performed by Finite Element Method assuming an anisotropy of both elastic properties and thermal expansion coefficients. Result of the computation shows, that the anisotropy of the physi
