Finite elements and boundary elements lead to very different kind of systems. While the finite element method applied to elliptic problems lead naturally to symmetric positive definite system of equations, boundary elements adjoin them a non symmetric part. Sparse symmetric definite positive systems may be efficiently solved by iterative methods such as the preconditioned conjugate gradient method. Full ma
