Westmann* "Mechanical Systems Engineering Department, Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute, South Korea ^Mechanical, Aerospace and Nuclear Engineering Department, Universtiy of California, Los Angeles, USA ABSTRACT Time domain method is employed in boundary element analysis of viscoelastic problems. The integral equations in space and time are derived for linear viscoelastic materials. The discretization is presented by using time elements and boundary elements. A modified Simpson's rule with respect to time is employed to achieve an accurate and efficient integration scheme. Based on the formulation presented, a new two-dimensional BEM computer program and a new three-dimensional BEM computer program have been developed.
