Abstract
This paper presents a convergence study of a self adaptive mesh algorithm for the finite element quasi-static analysis of microwave transmission lines. The algorithm uses a selective h refinement, a residual error estimate and an adequate element subdivision. The study shows that the maximum rate of convergence of the h version of the Finite Element Method is achieved even in cases when the exact solution is not smooth enough. 1 Introduction Present technologies require an accurate prediction of the parameters that characterize microwave transmission lines. Some of them show a high degree of geometrical and physical complexity; a wide variety of configurations and materials are employed. Because of its versatility
