Abstract
In this paper a time optimal control of a process of induction heating of steel ferromagnetic charge is described. The goal of the time optimal control is to create such a method of supplying the heater that the allowable from technological point of view temperature gradients in the heated charge are not exceeded. The heater and the charge, a pipe or cylinder, have been assumed to be infinitely long, so that one dimensional models of temperature and electromagnetic phenomena in the heated charge are used. The models and their numerical solutions are used in a classical, in the control theory, state equation which has been formulated for the system considered with some technological restrictions. It has been proved that in order to keep the temperature gradients not exceeding al
