Abstract
The flux and eddy current distributions in wound cores are analyzed using the 2-D finite element method. It is illustrated that both transverse and longitudinal fluxes in the silicon steel change suddenly near the positions where the silicon steel starts and terminates. The flux distribution is also measured. It is shown that the reason for the discrepancy between the measurement and calculation is the deterioration of B-H curve of steel plate. 1 Introduction In the wound cores for single-phase distribution transformers etc., the silicon steel is wound in spiral. The behaviour of the transverse flux perpendicular to the silicon steel which causes the eddy current has been already reported [1,2]. But further investigation of the eddy current dis
