Abstract
The importance of 3D advanced conservation equation model is increasing with the present fast growth of the computer power. Many prospective users and developers involved in industrial risk studies want to know deeply about existing codes; what physics is covered by them and the expected quality of the predictions. The present material offers some information about the algorithms of the most important 3D computer codes for heavy gas modelling. The mathematical models are incorporated in a unified framework and they are considered as particular cases of one general mathematical model. The different models are analyzed from a theoretical point of view; the possible weak points and the open questions related to the modelling are
