Vignati^ "AMBIO Ricerche Ambientali, Milan, Italy b National Environmental Research Institute, Roskilde, Denmark ABSTRACT A static mesoscale wind model has been adapted to describe the main flux on an urban area and the interactions with typical urban characteristics like buildings and streets. This model has been coupled with an advection-diffusion model to compute the concentration fields. The mean concentration field is considered to interact with the source terms given by small domains containing the streets. Into and around each street the flow is separately computed considering the vertical forcing due to the building obstacles to give the sub- grid wind fields. Finally the transport and diffusion are computed in the small domain by the advection-diffusion model using an operator splitting method. The
