Abstract

Upon the need in Turkey for enhancement of freshwater productivity, a pilot study has been introduced in one of the largest basins, the Yesilirmak basin, for purposes of management of fishery resources. The specific objectives of management and various stages of development are summarized to indicate the role of mathematical modeling in the decision- making process. A discussion is presented on the current stage of the research where the spatial and temporal variations of water quantity and water quality are simulated via two different program packages. 1 Introduction Water supply, irrigation, energy production, and flood control have long been the four primary goals of water resources development in Turkey to meet the demands of the growing population, agri
