Abstract
Night-time observations of NOs and HONO behaviour were made at Helgoland in October 1996. During transport over the sea the predominant interaction of the trace gases is with aerosol surfaces. NOs disappeared mainly through N:Os reaction on wet aerosols. HONO mixing ratios showed a good correlation with the aerosol surface area. Introduction NOs is produced in the atmosphere by reaction of NO] and Os (at 285 K): N
