Abstract
EUROTRAC-2: The Contribution of the German Tropospheric Research Programme Invited talk from the BMBF Gerhard Hahn Federal Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Technology, D-53170 Bonn, Germany The talk was arranged around five questions. 1 Why does the German Research Ministry (BMBF) give support to EUROTRAC-2? The answer to this question has, first and foremost, to do with the nature of the subject: Atmospheric problems and emissions do not usually stop at national borders and frequently can be better studied through transnational cooperation. Such collaboration of researchers is therefore necessary and appropriate. The second reason for the commitment of BMBF to EUROTRAC-2 is the positive experience gained with the predecessor programme EUROTRAC (first phase).
