Abstract
Updated Rate Constants for OH + NOi and HO: + NO: The Influence on Modelled OH Concentrations during the POPCORN Field Campaign A contribution to subproject CMD J -P Kohlmann, H Bluhm and D. Poppe Institut fur Atmospharische Chemie, Forschungszentrum Julich, D-52425 Julich, Germany Introduction Rate constants of some well established and important reactions in tropospheric chemistry are only known with considerable uncertainties of about 10-50 % (DeMore et al., 1997). For example the rate constant for the reaction of OH with NOi, one of the most important sinks of HOx in the troposphere, may well be overpredicted by 10-30 % at room temperature (Donahue et al, 1997). Also for the conversion of HOa to OH in the reaction of HO: with NO, a revised (20 % larger) rate constant has been reported (Bohn and Zetzsch, 1997). Both processes are key reactions of the tropospheric chemistry and are known to hav
