Abstract
Simulations of Particle Growth and Liquid-Phase Chemistry in Marine Aerosols: I. Thermodynamics of Multi-Component Aquatic Solutions, II. Aerosol Dynamics. A contribution to subproject PROCLOUD Evangelos Batris, Pekka Korhonen and Yrjo Viisanen Finnish Meteorological Institute - Air Quality Research, Sahaajankatu 20 E, FIN-00810 Helsinki, Finland Description In this work, we deal with thermodynamic aspects of particle formation and growth, which are essential to both chemical and microphysical modelling. We consider marine aerosol systems, for which we intend to provide parametrised activity coefficients, density and surface free energy (surface tension). The data will be applied on a chemical-microphysical model for simulating the evolution of polydisperse marine aerosols. The effects of mixed electrolytes and multi- component condensation will be vigorously taken into account for calculating th
