Aerosol Research Group, Finnish Meteorological Institute, Sahaajankatu 20E, FJN-00810 Helsinki, Finland Introduction The project EAAS was started in July 1997, for the duration of two years, at a Finnish station (69 °N, 28 °E) some 300 km north of the Arctic Circle. The primary objectives of EAAS are to investigate the sources and transformation processes of an Arctic aerosol, and the relation between the aerosol physico- chemical character and its radiative properties.
