Abstract
Effect of Gas-to-Particle Conversion on the Fluxes of Nitrogen Compounds A contribution to subproject BIATEX-2 Arvydas Juozaitis, Vidmantas Ulevicius and Dalia Sopauskiene Lithuanian Institute of Physics, Environmental Physics and Chemistry Laboratory, LT-2600, Vilnius, Lithuania Introduction The development of cost effective strategies for the control of pollutant emissions requires accurate assessment of deposition fluxes. These fluxes are highly dependent on the extent to which different species are associated with the gaseous phase or with particles. Therefore, it is of vital importance to understand the mechanisms of predominant chemical reactions in the atmosphere, to evaluate rates of gas-to-particle conversion, and to include information obtained in parameterised form into deposition models. Field experiments aimed at estimating gas-to-particle conversion rates and to relate
