Abstract

Uptake Coefficients of Nitrate Radicals on Surfaces of Sea-salts A contribution to subproject CMD F. Gratpanche and J.-P. Sawerysyn Laboratoire de Cinetique et Chimie de la Combustion URA-CNRS 876, Universite des Sciences et Technologies de Lille, 59655, Villeneuve d'Ascq. France The nitrate radical (NOs) plays an important role in the oxidising capacity of the troposphere at night (Wayne et #/., 1991). Heterogeneous reactions in and on dry and moist aerosol particles can also contribute to its removal in the troposphere and consequently modify the abundance of trace species. So, heterogeneous reactions of NOs radicals on NaX (X = Cl and Br) sea-salts are assumed to be a source of halogen atoms in gas phase : NOs (g) + Na+ X (s) -> X (g) + Na+ N(V (s) which may influence tropospheric night-time chemistry. The purpose of this laboratory study is to measure the uptake coefficients of NO] on so
