Abstract
Ozone Abatement Strategies for the Upper Rhine Valley, Part I: Emission Scenarios Guest contribution R. Friedrich and A. Obermeier Institute of Energy Economics and the Rational Use of Energy (IER), University of Stuttgart, Hessbruehlstrasse 49a, D-70565 Stuttgart, Germany Objectives During summer seasons high concentrations of ozone are observed in the Upper Rhine Valley, which covers an area of almost 15000 knf and includes south-western parts of Germany, eastern parts of France and northern parts of Switzerland. Major cities in this region are Basel and Zurich, Mulhouse and Colmar as well as Freiburg im Breisgau. The main objectives of the study presented here are: * to analyse the present situation concerning precursor emissions in this region; * to investigate future trends in emissions; * to identify efficient options for further air pollution control;
