Abstract

Breakwater overtopping under wave spectra conditions prevailing in the Adriatic Sea v Z. Vukovic, P. Brica Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Zagreb, Croatia Abstract Freeboard values at embankment breakwaters are analysed according to the Hedges and Reis random wave overtopping model, for wave climate conditions prevailing in the Adriatic Sea. The analysis of necessary breakwater freeboards was conducted taking into account the allowable wave overtopping, breakwater parameters and wave climate under conditions of Tabain all direction and Prsic bora (NE) and sirocco (SE) Adriatic wave spectra. It was demonstrated that the Prsic bora wave spectrum provides somewhat different freeboards than the Tabain all direction or the Prsic sirocco spectrum. This leads us to the conclusion that, because of wave properties generated by bora, the Prsic bora wave spectrum is to be used in this case for conditions prevailing in the Adriatic Sea. 1 Introduction One important element in the
