U.B.), Belgium Abstract In this paper we would like to explain our design-methodology to the production of the material culture in general. Afterwards, we will illustrate its applicaton for the design of a theoretical earthquake proof reconstructionsystem for the Temple of Zeus at Nemea. 1 Towards a methodology based on regenerating systems 1.1 Point of departure The material culture we are faced with is a culture that we created ourselves. It consists among other things of houses, public buildings, traffic infrastructure, utensils, means of production, manufacture, assembly, repair and communication, in short, all kinds of usual artefacts that offered and still offer solutions for our past or present problems, but only in their limited contexts.
