Abstract
San Martin tower is a Spanish tower, of Mudejar style, built in the XIII century. A number of pathologies have been observed and measured and therefore a study including structural analysis of this construction has been considered necessary. This paper presents the work carried out to identify the origin of the structural problems affecting the tower. The methodology chosen implied to produce accurate 3-d CAD and advanced visualization models of the tower. Then several structural analyses using the finite element model were worked out and the numerical results that allowed us to establish the required repair works are presented in this paper 1. Introduction The tower of San Martin is an outstanding example of the rich Mudejar cultural heritage in Teruel, a city in Northeastern Spain. As this tower is ov
