Abstract
Air pollution coming from city road traffic is not only detrimental to human health but also injurious to ancient buildings and monuments that symbolize civilization and history of nations. To avoid both decline and loss of this irreplaceable patrimony planned maintenance as a function of many parameters such as building materials, kind and concentration levels of air pollutants, meteorological conditions of sites and so on are required. The goal of this research has been to find the general algorithms that are able to forecast maintenance times in function of some known parameters of air pollution. The present paper shows the first results obtained by an investigation carried out on three historica
