Abstract
95 The effect of shifting errors when correcting track irregularities with a heavy tamping machine M.Kamiyama*, A.Furukawa* & A.Yoshimura^ * Railway Technical Research Inst, Japan * Tokyo Engineering University, Japan Abstract Track irregularities of ballasted tracks are usually improved by using a heavy tamping machine. When the machine corrects longer irregularities, the information on the waveform of track irregularities is necessary. However, the correction with these data sometimes leads to degradation of tracks. The causes (expect human errors) are categorized into following three patterns. • Error of position matching between the data on waveform and the machine • Influence of the shifting error at one point on subsequent shifting * Uncertainty of zero adjustment of the machine These errors may reduce the usability of the correction with the external data, and require
