Abstract
The Adelaide Taxi Industry Baseline Study (ATIBS96) was conducted throughout 1996 to collect a variety of statistics of interest to members of the industry and to policy-makers. The first of a planned series of follow-up studies was conducted in 1998 (ATIS98). Though the 1998 effort was less extensive than ATIBS96, it enabled comparisons of the key operational characteristics of the industry. Of particular interest were the proportions of the means of engagement of the jobs; the quality of service with regard to passengers (waiting times and rank queues); the ratios of active versus non-active time and distance travelled for taxis; and the revenue per trip, per shift etc. This paper compares the statistics derived from each study and briefly describes the methodologies of the data coll
