Abstract
Some types of structures with extreme effective properties are considered by means of the homogenization theory. We discuss the reiterated cell-structure which consists of m different micro-levels. Our numerical results indicate that the limit proven by Lukkassen [6] corresponding to the case 771 = 00 serves as a surprisingly good approximation of the effective properties for any value of m. In particular, this observation yields a simple approximate-formula for the classical coated rectangle-assemblages. Some applications are also presented; e.g. we discuss concrete examples of optimal design of core material in sandwich constructions. 1. Introduct
