Abstract
This paper addresses the optimal design of stacking sequence of laminated plates. Laminated plates are constituted by a stacking sequence of parallel orthotropic plies bonded the ones on the others. Because of the discrete nature and the multiplicity of the design parameters, namely the values of the stacking angles, the thickness of the plies, the number of the plies, the mechanical properties of the plies, etc., the space of the solutions is such as well suitable methods of searching are required. This paper proposes the recourse on genetic algorithms which are combinatorial search methods inspired from Darwinian model of the biological evolution. For a quasi-isotropy op
