Abstract
The aim of the paper is to analyse incorrect driver behaviour in urban signalised intersections and in particular the influence of sex of drivers. For this purpose incorrect behaviour is measured by the number of violations committed by drivers. Only "red light crossing" and "not giving right of way" are considered in this paper. Data are collected over a period of about one month (for a total of 33.5 hours) in an intersection of Northern Italy. Seven variables are detected: vehicle volume (subdivided into six vehicle categories), daytime/night-time, g/c ratio, branch of detection, meteorological conditions, sex of drivers, and, finally, the number of violations per driver and per vehicle. Two models are worked out to describe driver behaviour: firstly
