Abstract
Public attitudes towards the introduction of road pricing in the Central Business District M.Odani,N.Akita Department of Transportation and Information Systems Engineering, Kobe University of Mercantile Marine, Kobe 658, Japan ABSTRACT This study aims to reveal public attitudes towards the introduction of road pricing to restrain car traffic in the CBD. The results are based on the findings of survey questionnaires which were given to drivers in Osaka City. First, factors which affect drivers' opinions of one road pricing scheme proposed in this study are analyzed. Second, the effects of its introduction, decrease in car use and travel time, are shown. Finally, several alternative road pricing plans are evaluated and the acceptability of those plans is examined. 1.
