Abstract
Increasing requirements of capacity of light weight bridges (higher span, higher load, less weight) lead to an ultimate utilization of material strength and structural resources of bridge design. Consequently the expense of structural analyses is permanently increasing to guarantee the necessary reliability of bridge structures. More powerful analysis tools are needed. The presently employed modern analysis tools will be emphasized and in- troduced by examples of the design of the new Dornier Foldable Bridge (DoFB) and other bridge concepts. 1 Introduction So far concepts of mobile bridges were distinguished by the fact that either a high mobility with small bridge units or a rapid assembly with large
