Abstract
In excess of 100 MHz bandwidth is promised from new communications technology suitable for the railway environment. The bandwidth can be used for vital, non-vital or a mixture of the traditional types of communication security as well as intermediate categories. This and associated advantages opens up a number of possibilities for new applications for track to train communications and indeed direct train to train communications.
