Abstract

Minimum weight design of tall buildings rectangular plane frames H.M.C.C. Antunes*, N.K. The design variables of the optimization problem were the major inertial moments of linear elements (Beams and Columns). Constraints related to horizontal displacement and axial stresses due to wind and gravitational loads were taken into account. The technique used is based on the construction of aproximate problems that represent, in the best way possible, the real optimization problem without showing however, the same difficulties for their solution employing concepts of non-linear m
