Abstract
A three-dimensional computation of a Mediterranean zone is presented. The hydrodynamical procedure does not account the hydrostatic hypothesis and the free surface evolution is considered. Processes of interaction between the plume river entrainment and the seawater are analysed on basic configurations in terms of tridimensional circulation. Application to the real configuration of the Rhone river mouth is computed by consideration of events encountered during a field campaign performed by the LSEET. Numerical results concerning the surface currents and the plume characteristics are compared with experimental data or previous studies, and discussed. 1.
