Abstract

Recognising the difficulties associated with the control of pollution under condi- tions of rapid economic development, the International Development Association (IDA) is assisting the Peoples Republic of China (PRC) in the execution of a comprehensive environmental study of the Hangzhou Bay area. The purpose of this study is to consider the need to simultaneously exploit the natural environmental capacity of Hangzhou Bay to assimilate waste, whilst protecting and developing the supply of sea food.
