Abstract
The paper presents a statistical description of bed forms measured at a linear sandbank in the North Sea. Use is made of bathymetric data measured along four profile lines over the bank. A method to separate sand wave elevations from bottom irregularities associated with the bathymetry is presented. Due to the reduced width of the bank, the number of zero up-crossing sand waves in each profile is quite limited. This affects the significance of wave-to-wave statistics. The number of sand wave elevations is however much higher and allows to estimate the probability density function. It also allows to develope an ARMA(p,d,q) model, which is used to generate
