ABSTRACT Any human activity has an effect on the environment. Port activity is not excepted. World ports have to combine economic development and environmental defence. The Port of Le Havre Authority is pro-active for environmental protection both on the international and local scale. Training is compulsory to make people understand the impact of their behaviour on their environment.
