Abstract

Evolution of the adaptive walls wind tunnel G.P. Russo, G. Zuppardi, M. Basciani cfz 'FecfeHco 77', f zazza/e Tecc/^io (90, ABSTRACT With the aim of eliminating some inconsistencies in the results obtained in a previous series of tests, some modifications concerning the test chamber walls. the flexible walls, the displacement system, the model, the test protocol and the adoption of displacement indicators on the flexible walls have been made in the adaptive walls wind tunnel. The results obtained in a new series of tests have been very satisfying and thus these modifications will be retained in the design of the new fully automated test chamber that will be built in a near fu- ture. INTRODUCTION Some modifications in the test chamber of the adaptive walls wind tunnel (AWWT) of the Institute of Aerodynamics "Umberto Nobile" of the Universita di Napoli were made in order to eliminate some mechanical problems encoun- tered in the walls displacement system
