Abstract

Solution of Darcy inverse problem by a Heuristic approach F. Trochu," M. Soulie^ , C.f. ABSTRACT A heuristic approach based on logarithmic finite elements is presented to solve Darcy inverse problem. The water head is approximated by non- conforming finite elements and the permeability field by a logarithmic finite element expansion. A set of approximate equations is derived to solve numerically Darcy weak problem. The degrees of freedom of the permeability field are initially set using the information available from in-situ experiments or laboratory tests. The program is first implemented to yield the water head distribution. Since water head measurements do not agree in general with computed values, the permeability is adjusted iteratively until calculated water heads fit experimental data. For each measurement, one degree of freedom only of the permea
