Abstract
Study of the resistance to airflow within long airways presenting singularities S.A. Mohamed", J. Patigny\ A. Khellaf* "CDSE, Am Oussera, Algeria Louvain la Neuve, Belgium ABSTRACT Ventilation, in industrial installations among others, presents particular difficulties since air must flow in channels that are, to a large extent, different from classical pipes for which standard calculation methods can be applied. The present study contributes to the solution of this problem. Using one of Brussels road tunnel as example, the present work aims at presenting an empirical mathematical model of the energy losses within long airways in which different types of singularities increase its aerodynamic resistance value. The influence of the turbulence intensity and the velocity gradient upon the drag values of short obstacles are also studied. The work covers experimental study carried out on a reduced model. First, this model is validated b
