Abstract
Calculation of fatigue crack growth in linear elastic formulation including the crack intersection analysis is first given. The boundary integral method for 3D – cracks simulated as continuous distributions of dislocation loops is also sketched. Further, part of the paper presents a boundary element approach to the problem of viscoplastic fracture phenomena occurring in cracked metallic structural elements by creep. After applying a plane stress viscoplastic formulation, the procedure of Lyness and Moler is modified to determine the differential of displacement rate being the ratio of the imaginary part of the stated rate to the imaginary part of a complex variable standing for the coordinates of a collocation point. In this way the evaluation of creep stresses at internal points is significantly simplified. The issues thus gained are highl
