Abstract
A new approach is developed and implemented for the solution of twodimensional potential problems in continuous media with functionally graded material parameters. Domain elements are employed for the polynomial approximation of both the geometry and physical fields. The nodal unknowns are computed from the set of local integral equations considered on subdomains determined by the adjacent domain elements and collocated at interior nodes. At the boundary nodes, the prescribed boundary conditions are considered by using the employed approximation. A numerical example is presented for illustration purposes.
