Abstract
A mill roller bearing is made up of an internal ring, middle rolls and an external ring. It is categorised as a multi-bodied contact problem. In this paper, based on the 3-D elastic contact BEM, and according to the structural peculiarities of roller bearings, middle rolls are described by different shaped elastic plate elements placed on the internal ring. The discontinuous traction problem on the contact element is dealt with by the traction sub-element method. Therefore, the contact problem relating to the roller bearing can be changed from multi-bodies to two-bodies. As for the elastic deformation of the plate element, this can be calculated by the elastic contact formula, and regarded as an equivalent gap to put into the total matrix equality. The contact condition of displacement and traction on the c
