Abstract
A new coupled BEM based on the DRM-MD technique for modelling flow and transient solute transport in 3D Fracture Networks is presented. A summary of the governing equations and the main steps of the numerical scheme are given. The pipe element is introduced, offering an efficient way to assemble several intersecting fractures. Results of four different numerical examples are presented in order to show the validation, accuracy and capability of the formulation. The results have demonstrated not only the high accuracy and efficiency of the method, but also its flexibility to solve practical applications involving complex 3D fracture networks. 1 Introduction The objective of this paper is to present a new numerical approach for modelling flow and transient solute transport in 3D saturated Fractured Porous Media (FPM) for the Discrete Fracture Network Model (DF
