Abstract
This paper presents a 2-D boundary element model for contaminant migration through saturated subsurface media based on the Dual Reciprocity Method (DRM). An alternative formulation in the application of the DRM has been employed which avoids differentiation of the approximation function. The method has been applied to three different contaminant transport problems: a patch source; a continuous point source; and an instantaneous point source. Results from the numerical model compare very well with the analytical solutions. Furthermore, the method has been used to solve two well documented benchmark problems. The results were compared with three widely used numerical solution schemes; the finite element method, the method of characteristics an
