Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to investigate problems in 3D steady-state heat conduction which involve a stochastic medium with a thermal conductivity coefficient that varies linearly in one of the principle directions. A boundary element methodology is employed and the solution involves the four dimen- sional equivalent of an axisymmetric solution. The perturbation approach is subsequently employed for deriving a mean value plus a covariance for the Green's function by using an expansion that involves second order terms. Perturbations are also used in conjunction with the discretized boundary inte- gral equation statement. The paper concludes with an example involving steady-state temperature distribution on the horizontal surface of
