Abstract

In this paper, a new boundary element formulation for plate bending analysis is presented. Reissner plate theory is used to model the bending behaviour. The formulation is based on both of the bending and shear stress integral equations. All of the boundary unknowns are approximated using a quadratic isoparametric variation. Discontinuous boundary elements are used, to satisfy the continuity requirement for the boundary unknowns. The behaviour of the resultant algebraic system of equations is studied. Three examples are presented to demonstrate the accuracy of the present formulation. 1. Introduction Recently, the use of the stress boundary integral equations have recieved much attention in elasticity problems. These new integral equations which have a high
