Abstract
Inverse heat transfer problems encountered in thermal systems with change of phase are discussed in general. Emphasis is on an estimation of the boundary heat fluxes, and on determination of the phase change front location. These calculations are based on temperature measurements at interior locations. Advantages of using the Boundary Element Method for performing sesnsitivity analysis and solving inverse problems are pointed out. Also, the principal procedures of stabilizing results are critically compared. 1 Introduction The availability of digital computers has stimulated the rapid growth of computational simulation aiming to simplify designing and to optimize many of industrial processes. The most challenging thermal processes being subjects of computer simulations are ther
